Choosing a reseller hosting company: how reselling works, and who sells it
Reseller hosting is a block of hosting bought wholesale and sold on under your own name: an agency hosting its clients' sites, a freelancer bundling hosting with a build, a small provider starting without servers. The reseller pays the host a monthly price for the block, sets client prices, and the host runs the machines. Reseller is a measured stack in this hub's plan; only two hosts in the readable catalog print a reseller price, under the floor for a stack page, so it ships as this guide and the hosts that evidence it are named in their profiles.

Choosing a reseller hosting company
- Count the accounts and the disk. Reseller plans are priced by the number of client accounts and the storage and bandwidth they share. Ten small business sites need little of either; a portfolio of stores needs more of both. Size the block to a year's growth, not to today.
- Check white-label and billing tools. The reseller's clients should see the reseller's brand, nameservers and control panel, not the host's. Most reseller plans include a white-label panel and some include client billing software; the host's reseller page states which.
- Read the renewal like any other plan. Reseller plans carry the same intro-and-renewal shape as shared hosting. Margin is the difference between the renewal price of the block and what clients pay, so price clients on the renewal, not the intro.
- Decide who supports the clients. The host supports the reseller; the reseller supports the clients. A reseller who cannot answer a client's hosting question at speed is selling a support desk they do not have. Some hosts offer white-label support as an add-on; the reseller page says.
Reseller versus a VPS for hosting clients
An agency with a technical person often does better on a managed VPS: one machine, one price from the VPS stack page, client sites as separate accounts under a control panel, and no per-account pricing. An agency without one does better on reseller hosting, where the host runs the machine and the panel and the reseller runs only the clients. The difference is who is on call, exactly as with dedicated servers.
Two hosts in the readable catalog evidence a reseller product on their own pages; their profiles link to those pages, and their printed shared and VPS prices are in the table for the comparison.
Common questions
- What is a reseller hosting company?
- A host that sells hosting in wholesale blocks for the buyer to resell under their own brand. The reseller pays the host per block and sets client prices; the host runs the servers.
- Is reseller hosting profitable?
- This site makes no claim about what a reseller earns. The margin is the gap between the block's renewal price on the host's page and what clients pay, and both are numbers the reseller sets or can read before buying.
- Which hosts sell reseller plans?
- Two hosts in the readable catalog evidence a reseller product on their own pages and are named in their profiles; more will appear as their pages become readable to the index.
